The reason I stopped is Yast2 is now tied into Samba 2.x and I was afraid Yast2 could somehow cause problems.
Well its looking for the 2.2.7 that ships with SuSE, you might be able to work around it by editing the yast module configuration.
When I installed 3.0 I started editing the smb.conf file by hand. (i.e. I did not get swat to work and I was afraid to try Yast2.)
Swat's disabled by default, something that got the legacy staff here into a bit of a panic, you can enable it by uncommenting the line in the samba init script (the exact location of which I cant remember atm) Best, Ben
