[opensuse] where did the splash screen go?
I think it was somewhere in the process of installing my video card and the nVidia beta drivers that I lost the green "splash" screen during boot time. Now I get to see all the command line stuff instead of just the green screen. How do I get it back? thanks, --Jason -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Check in your /boot/grub/menu.lst file. See if there's a part that says "splash=verbose". If so change it to: splash=silent Of course, make a backup of it first before attempting any changes. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Mine got this way *because* of one of the many updates I did the other day. I'm hoping ta whatever did it, will somehow change its ways and put it back soon. Oh, and just an quck OT fyi...do NOT buy one of those silicon waterproof/spillproof/dustproof keyboards! it's a PITA hitting the keys just right to make them put onto the screen! If you touchtype (I don't) then you really need to use the spellcheck OFTEN. -- A government big enough to give you everything you want, is strong enough to take everything you have.
