I am currently running SuSE 8.0 Professional. I had my SuSE Linux machine set up to masquerade and share an internet connection via a cable modem for a while. Worked great. The problem now is that I moved into an apartment and after setting up my computer to the same configuration, IP masquerading seems to freeze up the computer when it tries to start SuSEfirewall2. Nothing has changed except for external IP for my eth0. My internal IPs are the same. My external ISP is even the same company.practically the same everything except for the type of cable modem. Here are the symptoms. If my Ethernet cable is plugged in during boot, dhcp will get the ip address. SuSEfirewall2 will then try to start but then it will get stuck there. If I unplug the cable and reboot, dhcp will fail to get an ip and background and SuSEfirewall2 will just error saying that there is no ip for eth0 and then continue with loading. If I then shut down SuSEfirwall2 and then do a ifup eth0 to get the ip, then disable IP masquerading and restart SuSEfirewall2. The firewall loads up fine. If I try to enable IP masquerading, when the SuSEfirewall2 tries to restart, it hangs the whole machine again. Help, Lehel
