Hello,
I've noticed a problem with lprng. It does not happen all the time, and I'd like to know if some of you have it too... Sometimes after (successfully) printing something the lp daemon stops working. It is still in memory, its status is still "running", but when I print something else with the lpr command I get a "printer not ready" message. I have to stop/restart the lp daemon by hand... This happened on three machines with local parallel printers, but never happened at my work (the printers are networked). This does not happen with lprold. Any comment ?
I had the same with lpr old, until I re-configured printers using YaST2. Andrei

Were the printers originally configured with YaST2 ? In my case I installed SuSE 7.1 on a blank partition and did not use any previous printcap file. I configured the printer during the installation. When the problem happened, I had never launched the YaST2 printer module again. - -- Thibaut Cousin email : cousin@in2p3.fr web : http://clrwww.in2p3.fr -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.0.4 (GNU/Linux) Comment: For info see http://www.gnupg.org iD8DBQE6+VFLv1vqsTa1E4oRApL5AJ92teIUlpGMHKg3FbAUC88G90temgCeLKBo MINDVUbjSDeVcfosiEsuIsw= =dgY/ -----END PGP SIGNATURE-----
