Try www.cheapbytes.com. I just picked up Slackware 4.0(2cd's) and FreeBSD 3.2(2 cd's) for $12US (plus shipping). You really can't beat the prices at cheapbytes, I've bought from there several times and have never been disappointed. Dunno if they ship internationally tho...

I had no idea that you could get a dist so cheap. I've only ever seen them around 50 pounds each, hence why I couldn't see the obsession with getting the latest.

Perhaps because there is no standard yet in the world of Linux. What works in RedHat may not necessarily work in SuSE or Debian or Caldera, etc. With each distribution, you get software that <definiely> works with that distribution, as well as support from the distribution company for x amount of time. However, you can get the different distributions cheaply at a certain website that I can't remember off the top (or bottom) of my head. Perhaps someone could help me out... They are about $2 US per CD (or like $20 US for all 11 CD's they offer). I believe that it is 9 different distros.

Naw - I just put LINUX on my car's license plate. I'm sure Linux will survive longer than your tattoo, but I'm not that overboard. -- George Toft http://gtoft.dynip.com Hawaii Pacific University MSIS Graduate Student "Investigating the Relationship Between the Total Cost of Ownership, Organization Size, Industry, Workgroup Size, And the Perception of Value for Workgroup Servers."
Just think if you what you'd feel like with a Commodore 64 tattoo on your ass. It will be the same in a few years, when we fly ourselves to work. Michael George Toft wrote:
