This system was working fine with Suse 7.3, but I figured a newer kernel and updated security would be better for now and the future.

The windows systems (XP Home, sp2) cannot get access to the server. After invoking My Network Places, and clicking on the "view workgroup" selection,

the system shows up. But clicking on it gets an error message saying the user doesn't have access rights.

I checked, rechecked, and checked again the user rights for the users, plus

entered, blew away, then reentered the smbpasswd info. No joy.

So, I need to get up in a few hours and get to the client's office at bout 7AM and hope I can get this thing running again before the office opens.

Anyone have any ideas about this? I'm going to try and get a few hours sleep and get back to it early. Any help is appreciated.

There seem to have been a number of posts about firewall problems with Samba and 9.3. I have Samba, but I'm not at 9.3 yet. As I understand it, there is a YAST screen for configuring/manipulating your firewall. Take a look at that. And maybe someone else who is more familiar with this problem will post some more details for you in the mean time. Greg Wallace
