Just installed the new version of Netscape and it looks pretty good except for one minor thing...I can't get Flash to work. I've "installed" the Flash files in the plugin directory but everytime I go to a site w/ Flash or shockwave it says it needs to download the files for it. Has anyone else had this problem and if so, how to get 7.0 to recognize that the files are indeed there. TIA -- Zach "Coming to you live from SuSE Linux"
I have a Toshiba laptop and I'd like to be able to use the built-in pointing device when mobile and a desktop mouse when in the office. Any ideas on how to get this working. So far, the mouse just goes up to the top right corner and gets stuck there until I reboot. thanks! -kirk

The Toshiba trackpoint mouse uses the ps/2 port. You may have to change your XF86Config file manually if it is not working. For you external mouse, what kind of connection do you plan to use? ps/2, usb? Best Regards, Keith -- LPIC-2, MCSE, N+ Got spam? Get spastic http://spastic.sourceforge.net
When I have an external mouse connected on my Dell I can use the XF86Config mouse driver imps/2. Then the touchpad works as well... However, without a external mouse I need to use the XF86Config ps/2 driver to get the touchpad to works. I do believe this is the same problem you have... So edit the XF86Config file to choose the right mouse driver; no external mouse use ps/2 else imps/2.... /Magnus Kirk Bollinger wrote:

This is what my /etc/X11/XF86config file looks like for my toshiba laptop. I use USB mice when I am at a desk. Mouse[1] is the earaser head pointer on the laptop and Mouse[2] is the USB mouse. At home I have an Intellimouse Explorer, while at work or on the road I use a small IBM optical mouse. This config works for either of the two mice as well as the built in pointer while I am sitting on the back porch. I had this same problem with Mozilla RC2. Just install the flash plugin and java class file into ~/.netscape/plugins . I did that and it worked... DoPo
Where did you get the RPMs from. I tried some RPMs but I ended up getting a gray screen when I launched Mozilla. Nev. -------------------------------- Douglas Pichardo wrote:

It's not an RPM...it's an "install" file that is downloaded from www.netscape.com. Run this file as SU and it fetches all the program files via the net that you want installed (i.e. mail, chat, navigator, etc.). Also, before running it the first time from your account, rename the .mozilla directory...Netscape also creates a .mozilla directory in your home directory and chances are it will either not run or will corrupt this directory so you can't run Mozilla again w/o deleting it and reinstalling Mozilla. Just rename the original like.mozilla-original or whatever suits you. Zach "Coming to you live from SuSE Linux"

TIA Well, as long as you have the .class file and the libflashplayer.so in /opt/mozilla(or netscape)/plugins directory it should work. Some sites don't detect Flash right when it comes to browsers on Unix. Flash works fine for me on the May 24th build of Mozilla..so it should work with Netscape 7. BTW..flash and shockwave are two different things. Shockwave has sound and flash movies embedded into them. They aren't plain flash files. The only way I've found to get Shockwave to work is to use the Codeweavers CrossOver plugin and have the Windows shockwave plugin. -=Ben --=====-----=====-- mailto:ben@whack.org --=====-- If it's true that our species is alone in the universe, then I'd have to say that the universe aimed rather low and settled for very little. -GC --=====-----=====--

I stand corrected. I am able to get flash to work...it's shockwave that won't. I took a peek at the Crossover software and it may be worth investing in. Thanks. -- Zach "Coming to you live from SuSE Linux"

Their tech support rocks, they give free upgrades ( I believe though version 2.0 and it's on 1.1.1 right now) so I can't say anything bad about them. I can say their stuff just plain works. -=Ben --=====-----=====-- mailto:ben@whack.org --=====-- If it's true that our species is alone in the universe, then I'd have to say that the universe aimed rather low and settled for very little. -GC --=====-----=====--
