[opensuse] opensuse 12.3 x64 and some reiserfs complains
Good afternoon, since today's morning I've in the syslog: Feb 13 14:40:21 kost kernel: [161426.985977] REISERFS warning (device sda3): jdm-20004 reiserfs_delete_xattrs: Couldn't delete all xattrs (-39) Feb 13 14:40:21 kost kernel: [161426.985977] Feb 13 14:40:21 kost kernel: [161427.012713] REISERFS warning (device sda3): jdm-20004 reiserfs_delete_xattrs: Couldn't delete all xattrs (-39) Feb 13 14:40:21 kost kernel: [161427.012713] This server works for months/years, disks are at 99.999% OK - HP DL380G7. sda3 is /var/log, for now I could read all of the files. This server works for months/years, disks are at 99.999% OK - HP DL380G7. sda3 is /var/log, for now I could read all of the files.
Any ideas ?
1) how old is the disk? Could self-repaired disk errors have messed w/data? 2) how well is reiserfs supported these days? 3) 99.999% OK? Is that really a message from reiser's fsck? Ehhh... *IF* it was caused by a disk error, and that's the result. I'd copy off the data to a new disk as quickly as I could (if you haven't already done so or don't already keep regular backups. 4) kernel bug? Is it running the same kernel as when you got it? 5) Do you have Error Correcting memory? Maybe a random memory error caused by cosmic rays or might be memory failing from heat or over-voltage? 6) does the disk have the ability to give SMART info or show SMART monitoring stats? (man smartd) 7) Is it sata or sas? or what? Might want to see if you can look at the sector remapping table and see if it is remapping any sectors -- some disks have an internal event log that might show when one was last remapped. "sda" is only logical disk for system ... 7) Is it sata or sas? or what? Could be many things... most of them, I don't know, but at least you have a few ideas... ` Thank you very much for some ideas, I'll start with some of them Anyway I found that this is a bug, but in the old reiser 2.6.30 RC2, but now we've 3.6 ... I've "reiserfs-3.6.21-21.1.1.x86_64"...
