Re: [SuSE Linux] problems with local network
Hi... Justed wanted to say that my problems are over now. It was the Network card itself. Altough it worked flawlesly under windows, it just didn't under linux. I changed it for a compex network card (with an rl2000 chip or so), which also had support in the ne2k-pci driver. The card was detected under the same IRQ/IO adress as the Realtek card, but this card just worked the way it should Vincent

When rebooting linux, I also see that its unloading (or tries?) eth0
# lsdev --> any conflicting ports or IRQs? I have a RealTek8029 card in one of my machine on IRQ 10 --> works flawlessly...

I'm happy to hear this from you! I got the same card and a quite different error. I'm going to change my card with a 3Com PCI hoping to solve all my probs. Note that i've also tried the debub program of ne2k-pci driver, abviously it don't work. If you want to get rid of NIC problems, use Kingston NIC's. They work right outta the box. I've had fits with Cogent and 3-COM, not to mention the "odd-balls" that are available at cheap prices.
