[opensuse] Strange Firefox Problem
Starting today, I've been getting popups in Firefox that say" # begin quote Authentication Required Enter username and password for "CCCP Operations" at http://graphics.pop6.com User Name: [ entry box ] Password: [ entry box ] []Use Password Manager to remember this password. [Cancel] [OK] # end quote Sometimes I have to hit [Cancel] a dozen or more times until it stops popping up. It doesn't seem to be happening in Opera or Konqueror. I googled for it,but haven't found anything. Is it possible I have a corrupted file or even some sort of virus? No, not a virus pop6.com seems to be an online dating service. I can only guess that graphics.pop6.com is where they serve their graphics from. Access to it gives a Permission Denied My guess is that you are visiting web sites that display ads from the pop6.com site, but because of a configuration error on their part, you are not allowed to download the ads Annoying, to be sure, but the problem isn't on your side, I can't imagine Of course, it might be related to a plugin add-on you've installed in firefox as well. Thanks for the response. I may have fixed it by moving my user directory to a backup location, creating a new user, then moving back the files I needed from the old data. This is the second time in two weeks I've had to do this, though the symptoms were quite different each time. If there's a good side to this, I'm learning what files are important and what they're for. Now, if I could get display screens to show Danish characters. I can type them in using a Danish keyboard setup, but they don't display in a lot of firefox locations; and I occasionally would like to have ø æ and å at my disposal. Extremely doubtful that you have a virus, but hey, there's a first time for everything. :-) I would say it s aproblem within your user identity itself. As a test and troubleshooting exercise, you could log in as a different user on your machine and try out Firefox there. See if the problem persists. If so, its something in your user's profile. -- ---Bryen--- -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It is now happening on Konq and Opera. I am beginning to think that the chat site I visit. I am beginning to suspect that the chat site is being compromised by malware. It seems strange the the acronym "CCCP" appears in the message with so much malware coming from Eastern Europe. Well, Jim, It looks like old Gorbachev has picked YOU...yes YOU...to take charge of reviving the old Soviet Union. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

LOL! That was my first thought too! My ISP has had a severe DNS problem that finally left me unable to connect to anything last night. Since they've "fixed" the problem, I haven't had a recurrence of the problem. It was a very strange message though.
