I didn't like it at first - but - I - have to have stable environment because it's a business environment. And, REFUSE, to go back to Windows. It's bad enough that I have to use it for my tuning software and tax software (yes, I know there is free online stuff - BUT). I'm giving up on 11.4 for some reason the eth0 got set to on nfs so I have to ifup eth0 . Quagga doesn't work. X won't start even though I'm in runlevel 5. (rcxdm seems to work) sound went away. Hardware is pretty vanilla Itnel 6600 duo-core 8G of ram Mother Borad is intel975. No I won't go back to windows. Never ever ever. Mac is looking better and better though. Have you tried the /etc/sysconfig/boot change of RUN_PARALLEL from yes to no? That fixes some apparently wierd startup problems. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=665720 -- "How much better to get wisdom than gold, to choose understanding rather than silver." Have you at least reported bugs on the issues you've run into in order to improve 11.4? Jim -- Jim Henderson Please keep on-topic replies on the list so everyone benefits -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

That is a known bug. To start with, just change eth0 startmode to 'automatic'. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (6.8°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Desperate enough to spend $20 (or as little as 0) to upgrade that antique video card on the Compaq? $109 for a Warp 4 to eCS 2.0 upgrade license? If the laptop still has 11.4, have you tried the /etc/sysconfig/boot change of RUN_PARALLEL from yes to no? 11.0 was openSUSE's best ever, but except for OS/2, some things just need to be let go when they get old. :-) -- "How much better to get wisdom than gold, to choose understanding rather than silver." According to what I read in the bug reports, it's a common problem that affects many video boards.

Yes, I tried that.
11.0 was openSUSE's best ever, but except for OS/2, some things just need to be let go when they get old. :-)
I used to provided 3rd level OS/2 support at IBM Canada and am quite familiar with some of the things that could be done with that desktop. In many ways, it's still more advanced than anything else. Not bad for a desktop that came out 19 years ago. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
