has anyone tried kde2.2alpha yet? thoughts?
I tried alpha2. It was nice. I installed the SuSE 7.1 packages off the KDE site and no real problems. I just installed 7.2 so I'm back to 2.1.2 until the 2.2 beta comes out in a couple of weeks.

I'm using it now... here are my experiences, both good and bad: Konqueror is getting even nicer.. auto form completion, you can stop animations from playing now (about time!) and the configuration is a little more fine tuned. KMail is *MUCH* nicer. Non-blocking sending of messages (basically, your KMail window doesn't freeze up while you are sending out your messages), collapsable threads, better mailing list support, plus some other things I'm sure I haven't thought of. They really went to town. KNode is supposed to be nicer too, but I haven't tried it yet. The task bar now has application grouping -- when you have KMail open, and 3 messages open, they appear as "KMail" on your task bar, with an arrow that shows there are more tasks. You click on the KMail entry, and a menu pops up with the other tasks. This really keeps your taskbar cleared up. It's a good thing too, because the taskbar setting for "Sort tasks by virtual desktop" is not working yet. The mouse pointer also has application startup notification built in. You get a tiny little application icon for the app that is starting. It pulses with light too, which is really beautiful to behold. This is the most welcome addition, imho. You can now specify your "word separators" in Konsole. This makes it so that you can define what constitutes a "word" when you double click on a word in the terminal. A bug that I've found so far is that Konsole is ignoring the size settings that are saved in its configuration file. There are other additions, but these are the ones that I've noticed in the last 2 days that I've been running KDE2.2Alpha2. Have a great night! -Steven

Great Scott! I have installed it and it seems more responsive on my cpu. I also like the fact that I can *finally* move around the min/max close buttons....Kmail is alot better as you stated. Overall pretty good stuff..... can't wait for the beta. On Saturday 23 June 2001 06:24 pm, Steven Hatfield wrote:
