Hi, As a newbie to Linux I thought it best to choose the lowest common denominator video set-up when first installing SuSE. Now I would like to change the setting to SVGA. In XF86Config I choose the card to [the actual installed] Cirrus Logic 54xx and get a message telling me to abort and install the SVGA server as /usr/X11R6/bin/SVGA. I have searched all over yast in adj to install, choose install pkg, and sys admin and can find no option to install another server [what I guess must be a video driver.] Help in yast or XF86Config didn't seem to offer a hint. Any thoughts would sure be appreciated. I remain - clueless, Dave - To get out of this list, please send email to majordomo@suse.com with this text in its body: unsubscribe suse-linux-e

Install the package xsvga in yast. That is, if the svga server supports your card. Your card may or may not use a different server. This should be documented in the SuSE manual or in the xfree documentation. When you have the correct server installed, simply rerun XF86Setup and make the appropriate entries. David Nelsen wrote:
