A while back, I used YOU to upgrade my KDE to 3.3 (I am on SuSE 9.1). I want to check for recent updates and now can't remember how I did this before. What I am doing now is... 1. Start YOU 2. Add a "User defined location" as an installation source. This I define as protocol: ftp server name: ftp.suse.com directory on server: pub/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_9.1/ 3. click on Next This shows "retrieving ionformation about new updates" for a few moments then an error message: "Patch information retrieval failed". I click on "Details" and see: error Couldn't cd to i386 But, I can use ftp or the browser to go to the directory manually. -- Robert C. Paulsen, Jr. robert@paulsenonline.net
You've got everything right, but you need the 'yast-source/' bit at the end as follows: directory on server: pub/suse/i386/supplementary/KDE/update_for_9.1/yast-source/ If you do the above, and click Next it should succeed. The line 'supplementary KDE 3.3 update' will be moved to the bottom in the pecking order. Select it and click 'Up' to move it back to the top. I don't know whether this is significant, but I have had no problems doing this. Steve Black On Friday 24 September 2004 12:05, Robert Paulsen wrote:

Steve, Thanks. That and the other suggestion to use "System Update" instead of "Online Update" did the trick. -- Robert C. Paulsen, Jr. robert@paulsenonline.net
Hi Robert,
To not get into confusion from the beginning:
You cannot update supplementary KDE with 'YOU', but only with 'System Update'.
In YaST Control Center:
Step 1 -> Change Source of Installation:
