Hello list: Is it possible to vnc to my openSUSE 10.3 system so that I could continue using applications that are already running/open (browser, file manager etc.)? What I want to do is to lock my session on my computer and use the applications from another computer without unlocking the session on my computer. Is this possible? I haven't tried that with VNC, but it is entirely possible with XDMCP. You'd lock the current desktop and then start a new desktop, using XDMCP to log into a remote computer. -- Use OpenOffice.org <http://www.openoffice.org> -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

One issue to keep in mind is that when you do get it working, anytime you vnc into the machine and start using it, there is no proper way to lock the console - so when you work remotely, someone at the console can see and interfere with your work. The way I get around it is to kick off vnc, then use the vnc session for ~all~ work - so even when I am at the console, I vnc back into the same box to do myh work and do nothing (other than running vncviewer when I am at the machine) on the console. -- --Moby They that can give up essential liberty to obtain a little temporary safety deserve neither liberty nor safety. -- Benjamin Franklin -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org
