can someone do me a favor? If you can install omni printer driver, please send me the ppd files
Hello. So much thanks for all the people helped me on this list all the time. Sorry to ask for help time after time without being able to help others (not yet SuSE guru). I tried a lot of times to install omni driver, it looks like I am not able to create ppd files which is in turn used by cups to install the printer. If anyone has ever successfully created these ppd files, please send me by email or download link. According to what most document seems to suggest, simply install ghostscript-omni package (available from online install source) from yast should generate these PPD files. I have broken all yast on all the desktop computers here (by switching installation source) and I need it pretty eagerly (I installed ghostscript-omni by 'rpm -i' which seem to drop the PPD file generation procedure). I am not sure simply having these ppd files would help me get these printers working, but I certainly know without them I cannot go on. I am trying to make my first customer switch from Windows to Linux. I already successfully convinced them to use Linux but this customer have many Epson LQ-300 printer (which seems only supported by omni ghostscript) that is used to print invoices for daily business, they cannot switch to another printer simply because OS changed (in case printers doesn't work, they prefer to switch back to Windows). I worked so hard for them and it's so close to getting them converted. This is my first trial to run Linux service business (for sure I'd like to borrow more experience from you who also provide linux desktop solution and service).

Okay, I finally managed to get the files I need. Though they don't work either, but at least I failed with a reason.

Too bad :-( I once had a customer (running Suse 9.0) with Epson Matrix Printers and I bought the software from http://www.easysw.com/ for 49 US$ for them. It runs perfect (all features of the printers are supportet) - but its not free and if you make a system update or a reinstall, you always have to reinstall the program too (including a complicated system with a special key you always have to ask the company again, if your system changes.) But at least it works... If you search google for "omni ppd" you might also find some more threads about your problem. I'm sure it's solvable somehow... regards Daniel -- Daniel Bauer photographer Basel Switzerland professional photography: http://www.daniel-bauer.com Madagascar special: http://www.sanic.ch
