No sound output through HDMI
I have laptop running Leap 15.5, which I occasionally connect to my Samsung smart TV and Samsung Soundbar. The video works fine, with the desktop being mirrored on the TV screen. But sound only comes out of the laptop speakers. The TV has its own speakers, or it can use the Soundbar. Likewise, the laptop can link directly to the soundbar via bluetooth. But whichever combination I try, I cannot get sound out of either the TV speakers or the Soundbar. It has worked OK in the past, so I know it is possible. My impression is that the problem is in some configuration within the laptop which should redirect sound from the internal speakers to the HDMI output. Any suggestions, please? Click left on the loudspeaker in the system bar and you should see your devices, the HDMI and the internal speakers of the laptop. The rest is up to you. -- fr.gr. member openSUSE Freek de Kruijf

Thank you Freek, The HDMI doesn't show up there, so I need to find out why. Thanks for the pointer. Bob -- Bob Williams No HTML please. Plain text preferred. https://useplaintext.email/ http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html

The HDMI may be turned off in System Settings/Audio.

The pavucontrol shows all input and output devices in the form of connection status, so it should be enough to check them.
