In your home directory you will have a directory called....Mail. This contains kmails mail folders and contents. /ch

copy all the files in your /Mail directory. And if you want to keep your settings, copy the kmailrc file in the /.kde/share/config directory. Mike -- Powered by SuSE 9.0 Kernel 2.4.21 KDE 3.1.5 Kmail 1.5.4 For SuSE Mondo/Mindi backup support go to http://www.mikenjane.net/~mike 8:58am up 0:28, 4 users, load average: 1.05, 1.18, 1.06

Backup the Mail/ directory in your home directory. You can tar.bz2 it up with tar cfjv mailbackup.tar.bz2 Mail Backing this directory up doesn't backup your contact's though (and maybe your mail filters also not, I'm not sure) - can anyone tell us how to do that? Last time I reinstalled I thought I had all the kmail and kaddressbook related files in .kde/ backed up, but I still lost my contacts Thanks Kind regards Hans

~ maybe, you might use RSYNC + a script, like :- ...................................... #!/bin/sh # # use rsync to backup /home/Bombadil/Mail to /dev/hdb3 # mount -t reiserfs /dev/hdb3 /mnt cd rsync -avr --delete --delete-after /home/Bombadil/Mail /mnt cd umount /mnt .......................... ~ this would, for example, back up to a 2nd Hard Disk, partition 3 . . . you could instruct CRON to run the script every 30 minutes, if you like :) ................................. best wishes ____________ sent on Linux ____________
