[opensuse] Java plugin strangeness
I'm running Firefox 3.0.6, latest Java (1.6.0_11), openSUSE 11.1 i386. Several sites won't work because they say my Java plugin is either not present or an old version. about:plugins shows this: File name: libjavaplugin_oji.so Java(TM) Plug-in 1.6.0_11 When verifying at java.com, the say this: Your Java version is 1.6.0_0 Then they tell me to update to 1.6.0_11, naturally. There's a couple of sites that won't work at all, they can't even detect the plugin..? Now I have to rely on WinXP in a VM to do my banking... Running Firefox 3.0.6 and Java 1.6.0_11 on XP, works just fine. /Jan K. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Several sites won't work because they say my Java plugin is either not present or an old version. Can you give an example?

Try this: https://install.bankid.com/Javakontroll____174.aspx It gives a red "EJ OK" stamp, which means "Not OK". -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Ah, I see. It should look blue and give the Java version? (Attached) I wonder if the java version is giving issues. Did you install from Sun or from openSUSE? I have 1.6.0_11 as well: kai@xwing:~> java -version java version "1.6.0_11" Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_11-b03) Java HotSpot(TM) Server VM (build 11.0-b16, mixed mode) However, the site seems to think I have 1.5x. -- kai www.perfectreign.com || www.filesite.org bis zum bitteren Ende

I had the openSUSE version installed until just a few moments ago. I removed all java packages and installed the rpm from Sun. The I did "ln -s /usr/java/jre1.6.0_11/plugin/i386/ns7/libjavaplugin_oji.so /usr/lib/browser-plugins/" and now the test shows "OK" and with the right version (Update 11) too. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Glad it works now. Strange. I just got a similar message on an internal site here using Firefox (with IE page plugin) under Vista. Go figure. Must be the sunspots. -- kai www.perfectreign.com || www.filesite.org bis zum bitteren Ende -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Now I have to rely on WinXP in a VM to do my banking... Running Firefox 3.0.6 and Java 1.6.0_11 on XP, works just fine. Had a similar problem a few weeks ago. I removed the AdBlock+ Firefox
