NFS backup setup error: Cannot mount
Hi, I'm backing up my laptop harddrive on my desktop and is getting the error "Cannot mount the selected NFS share" on the setup screen when I creat the backup profile using yast2. I have the line desktop.my.net:/backup /mnt/nfs nfs user,noauto,defaults 0 0 on my /etc/fstab, and for the NFS server, I have /backup laptop.my.net(rw,no_root_squash) on /etc/exports. However, when I choose (Backup location -> NFS, desktop.my.net,/backup) and click "Next" yast2 complains it cannot mount the selected NFS share. However, I can mount manually the NFS share by typing: mount /mnt/nfs What did I do wrong or forget to do? Plese help! Bests, Toan __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? I am sorry, I don't have solution to this problem, I can only confirm that I'm having the same problem. <snip>
However, when I choose (Backup location -> NFS, desktop.my.net,/backup) and click "Next" yast2 complains it cannot mount the selected NFS share. However, I can mount manually the NFS share by typing:
mount /mnt/nfs
Same here. I also checked logs on the NFS server, no errors or failed attempts registered there. Or should the share have some special name to be used for these backups? Puzzled. -Kastus

It's a bug. Here's one solution Edit /usr/share/YaST2/modules/Nfs.ycp on line 357, change to if (options != nil && size(options) > 0 on line 419, change to string command = sformat("/bin/mount %1 %2:%3 %4", (options != nil && size(options) > 0) ? "-o " + options : "", server, share, mpoint); Then do cd /usr/share/YaST2/modules ycpc -c Nfs.ycp Then try the yast2 backup again
Thanks. It works.

Hi, The backup profile setup now works with your solution. But I have a new problem. I choose pretty much all the default setting for the backup profile. But when I click the "Start backup", yast2 search for files and stop (frozen ?) at the window "Creating archive" for a long time. I don't know how long it should take to "Store host imformation" but I waited for an hour and nothing changes. I use "top" and find out that y2base occupies 600MB of virtual memory (222MB resident, 33MB share) but 0% CPU time. (My laptop has 320MB + 512MB swap). Is it another bug? Thanks, Toan
