[opensuse][mozilla][gdb] unhappy with 13.1 (32bit) switch to 42.1 (64bit)
I had no trouble for a very long time with any Mozillas. Now that I've "upgraded" to 64 bit, (mozilla.org's static binary) Firefox ESR 10, which worked fine in KDE3/13.1-32, instead in KDE3/42.1-64 gives "g_slice_set_config: assertion 'sys_page_size == 0' failed" instead of starting, and I'm unable to find any solution or workaround, only complaints that "fixed" bugs are not fixed, and stale open bugs on both openSUSE BZ and mozilla.org BZ, none of which for rv10 FF. Trying with a virgin profile or with -safe-mode or with ulimit -c unlimited does not help. Also, $ gdb /usr/local/ffe10/firefox -P ffe10 -safe-mode could not open ffe10: No such file or directory Is gdb broken in Leap? The claimed nosuch seems a lie. 32 bit FF 3.6.28 won't run and I can't locate a 64 bit version of it. FFESR38 (mozilla's), FFESR17 (openSUSE rpm) and SeaMonkeys (both mozilla's and Leap rpms) seem perfectly fine. https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=920260 suggests maybe some defect in glibc is at the root of the FFESR10 nostart. Suggestions, other than not using FFESR10 and/or switching back to 13.1, welcome. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive." No; you are using it incorrectly. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Solved this by using the latest 10 ESR version, 10.0.12, instead of the original. :-p -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
