[opensuse] Syncing akonadi and android tablet via server?
Hi, after I caught Google basically red-handed stealing the data from my Android address-book (see http://stefan.gofferje.net/news-blogs/it/172-why-one-shouldn-t-use-google-s-...), I simply assume that they do similar stuff e.g. with the calendar and notes. Thus, I would like to find another solution but I'm not really deep in the PIM topic. Question: What would be the simplest Linux server-side software solution that would allow at minimum syncing of contacts, calendar and notes with an Android tablet and with akonadi. If it supports more devices/protocols, it would even be better. -Stefan -- (o_ Stefan Gofferje | SCLT, MCP, CCSA //\ Reg'd Linux User #247167 | VCP #2263 V_/_ Heckler & Koch - the original point and click interface

I'm using owncloud to sync contacts, calendar and files among several computers with akonadi and it works quite well. If there exist clients for CalDAV and CardDAV, Android should be supported, too. Installing it is simple if you have apache already configured, because all you need to do is add the repository. It includes a journal app for syncing journal entries, although I haven't used it.

Perfect! Installation and setup time all in all 35 minutes and works like a charm! Thanks for the hint! -S -- (o_ Stefan Gofferje | SCLT, MCP, CCSA //\ Reg'd Linux User #247167 | VCP #2263 V_/_ Heckler & Koch - the original point and click interface
