HI all, I've got a cheap little handy. It has a couple of SMS messages I would like to print. But I don't know if its possible. If I get a Handy/USB cable, can Linux read my handy's memory? For those who are not familiar with the term - "handy" is a German colloquialism for mobile telephone. -- Per Jessen, Zürich (11.1°C) -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

in that case: the ability to find and read an SMS is highly dependent on the phone make/model...most i have come across do not allow direct access to either SMS nor address/number files via USB.. direct access to those usually require a proprietary client running on your computer...usually available via download from the maker's site...almost always require either a Mac or MS system.. the client for my samsung will not run in WINE (or, has not yet run in WINE) -- dd -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I have had better results (in Linux) via bluetooth than via cable. There is gnokii and wammu. But in the end, I have to resort to the Nokia proprietary tool on windows. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R.
