Hi, I just upgraded XFree86 4.02-2 for Suse 7.0 from XFree86 4.02-0. All rpm's were from the Suse FTP. glx module is not loaded along with the resulting unresolved dri also Both were being loaded when I used the XFree86 4.02-0 series and I had no problems whatever with XFree86 4.02 and I had been using 4.01 for a long time also. I have recompiled the DRI kernel module yet it does not help I can live for a while without the glx and DRI since anyway you do not support DRI however it is just annoying to loose a capability when you upgrade Any ideas TIA -- Togan Muftuoglu

The solution to the problem explained in can be resolved if the package installations are done by YAST (contrary to what the README says ) Although I have not tried, another possible solution is running switch2xf86_glx script that is placed under the "/usr/X11R6/bin " directory because that scrip is creating the link for libglx.a and other stuff. For some reason rpm --nodeps --force -Uhv of the glx packages do not create the necessary link. IIRC there was a discussion about YAST was it necessary or not bla bla some people wanted to have full control, well thanks to yast the packages are properly installed :) -- -- Togan Muftuoglu

If you have the file /proc/config.gz on your system, then that's the .config file that was used to compile your current kernel. If not, then you may find it in an RPM if you're using a SuSE kernel. Other than that, I don't know... Bye, Chris -- __ _ -o)/ / (_)__ __ ____ __ Chris Reeves /\\ /__/ / _ \/ // /\ \/ / ICQ# 22219005 _\_v __/_/_//_/\_,_/ /_/\_\
Hello! I have run into some difficulties getting my 3D-acceleration to work on my computer I have: Pentium II 450 MHz Diamond Viper 550 graphics card (Riva TNT) SuSe 7.0, Xfree 4.0.1 I installed the newest Nvidia drivers according to the instructions on SuSes SDB. Everything works! I can run the 3D screensavers, Quake3 demo and so on, BUT only as root. If I try as an ordinary user i get a message saying i do not have access to /dev/nvidiactl errno=11 (or was it 13). The /dev/nvidiactl exists and I do think the permissions are in order, so I don´t know what to try next. any ideas? thanks Niklas Huldén

Nick, I don't have a Nvidia, but you might take a look at the following URL and see if you can get any help there. He talks about installing the Nvidia drivers. http://www4.tomshardware.com/graphic/00q3/000811/linux_geforce-01.html Nevada - - - - - - - - - - - - - Take Control of your Life Cut up your Credit Cards in Little Bitty Pieces
