[opensuse] How do you stop multicast dns messages on the virtual consoles?

How do you stop multicast dns messages on the virtual consoles? It wouldn't be so bad if it were just one virtual console, but they appear on all of them, making them all unusable. I have tried making this change, but it didn't stop them. diff /etc/nsswitch.conf~ /etc/nsswitch.conf 32c32 < hosts: files mdns_minimal [NOTFOUND=return] dns ---
hosts: files dns

You mean text error messages? Try: klogconsole -r 10 - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R. Does that survive reboots? I've been using kernel.printk in /etc/sysctl.d/local.conf probably since TW shortly before initial Leap beta. -- "Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. No, it doesn't. It is just a command that stops the messages that normally go to the tenth virtual terminal but instead go to some other or all, to go back to where they belong, till a reboot or some other command sets the thing wrong again. I learnt about the trick because some vmware server long ago (~ten years ago) this this thing. It was not that syslog was doing it wrong, but that some other command broke the process and had to be stopped. If you run that command and works, but some time later in the same session they start again, well, we'd better find out the cause ;-) What is strange about the OP problem is that he says they are DNS multicast messages - too precise for my liking. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. Thanks. That command works. Temporarily is good enough to get a few commands typed. Having read up about mdns I decided it would be useful to get it working. But I cannot. I should post a new thread about that. Maybe it serves no purpose other than to spam the console. :( -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

If the messages come back, we should investigate why. If you use syslog, its configuration is one place. If you only use the systemd journal, I don't know where to look. - -- Cheers, Carlos E. R.
