I seem to be able to configure and make, but not make install?
First, I am no great chief in building programs from tarballs, but I'll try ... Normally, you unpack the archive (tar xzvf blabla.tar.gz), then enter the directory which is created (cd blabla), and then you do (in this order):
./configure make make install
(I think this is clear so far, isn't it?) If something is not working, you get some error messages in your xterm window (normally). Maybe there is a README-file in the directory you obtain from unpacking the archive?? Can you get any information from either of these??
