[opensuse] Howto Check ink levels on HP Envy 7640 printer?
Running Leap 42.3, I can't seem to find the proper way to check the ink levels on this printer. This is a wireless network printer BTW. System -> Print Settings -> Ink/Toner Levels Says "Marker levels are not reported for this printer" The printer supports it because the wife can read them in Windows. Thanks Mark Is the hplip package installed? If not, install it, use hp-setup to configure

After doing so, you should see the HP Device Manager in your system-tray, double click it and you should be able to see the ink levels. Worked fine for my Envy F4500 ( which has gone to the eternal hunting grounds ). -- Gertjan Lettink a.k.a. It depends upon, not only hplip, but also the driver. This is particularly true with older printers I have used only HP printers with linux for ~20 years, with hplip since its release. For example, with my (rugged, reliable, old) Business Inkjet 1100dtn, that feature is not supported. The fact that the driver supports it on Windows is meaningless; the drivers are different. Actually, with my 1100dtn, the HP driver on W$ dropped support of this feature after W7, but fortunately the other functions still work with that driver. --dg -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

That did the trick. Thanks. Mark -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
