Well i am still fighting with my new machine and SuSE 7.3 I have a 5634PCV SurfRider from Archtek Telecom, and it is supposed NOT to be a Winmodem... I have followed the procedure described, using: setserial /dev/ttyS2 port irq uart16550A (obtained from /proc/pci) But nor wvdialconf or minicom recognizes the modem.... ANYONE? the "lspci -v" command shows an strange "disabled" text in front of I/O address... this is it? Help please where are some listings: /var/log/boot.msg: 6>Serial driver version 5.05c (2001-07-08) with HUB-6 MANY_PORTS MULTIPORT SHARE_IRQ SERIAL_PCI enabled <6>ttyS00 at 0x03f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A <6>ttyS01 at 0x02f8 (irq = 3) is a 16550A .... and from (etc/rc.d/serial script) Configuring serial ports... ttyS0 at 0x03f8 (irq = 4) is a 16550A ttyS1 at 0x02f8 (irq = 3) is a 16550A ttyS2 at 0xd800 (irq = 4) is a 16550A Configured serial FROM LSPCI -V 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation NV11 DDR (rev b2) (prog-if 00 [VGA]) Flags: bus master, 66Mhz, medium devsel, latency 64, IRQ 11 Memory at ee000000 (32-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=16M] Memory at f0000000 (32-bit, prefetchable) [size=128M] Expansion ROM at efff0000 [disabled] [size=64K] Capabilities: [60] Power Management version 2 Capabilities: [44] AGP version 2.0 02:0b.0 Communication controller: TOPIC SEMICONDUCTOR Corp: Unknown device 0000 Subsystem: TOPIC SEMICONDUCTOR Corp: Unknown device 0000 Flags: medium devsel, IRQ 4 I/O ports at d800 [disabled] [size=8] FROM SCANPCI -V pci bus 0x2 cardnum 0x0b function 0x0000: vendor 0x151f device 0x0000 Device unknown CardVendor 0x151f card 0x0000 (Card unknown) STATUS 0x0200 COMMAND 0x0000 CLASS 0x07 0x80 0x00 REVISION 0x00 BASE0 0x0000d801 addr 0x0000d800 I/O MAX_LAT 0x00 MIN_GNT 0x00 INT_PIN 0x01 INT_LINE 0xff FROM SETSERIAL /DEV/TTYS2 /dev/ttyS2, Line 2, UART: 16550A, Port: 0xd800, IRQ: 4 Baud_base: 115200, close_delay: 50, divisor: 0 closing_wait: 3000 Flags: spd_normal skip_test ---------------------------------------------------- Juan Francisco Torres Ch.
