Re: [opensuse] where to look (in browser) for domains on my web server?
If you are running linux, the file is: /etc/hosts if you are running Windows, it is in /[systemroot]/system32/drivers/etc. the format of the file is: IPaddress[tab]url[space]url[space]url so somthing like 111.111.111.111 www.domain1.com www.domain2.com www.domain3.com Now that machine will resolve those sites the the specified IP. When you are done testing, just remove the entry. On Tuesday 21 November 2006 21:59, Afan Pasalic wrote:

So, you have to get your actual request to the server.
You can do this in two ways:
1) Set up a temporary DNS server an point it to the new site, then set your machine to use that server.
to much work and "complications" for few-days testing. :)
2) Add an entry to the hosts file with each of your sites and the IP of the new server.
this one didn't undertand?

hi! I just created VirtualHosts for 2 domains on my dedicated server using Yast. I put them in /srv/www/ directory /srv/www/domain1.com /srv/www/domain2.com
but, now I have no idea where to look for them (in browser)? when type in localhost or IP address (domain names are still pointed to old server until new one is up and running) the server is showing "default" site.
thanks for any help.
