Re: [SLE] /etc/resolv.config
you know looking at the code should handle it based on the variable i have if [ "$dhclient" = "dhcpcd" ] ; then # The following DHCLIENT_ARGS are specific to dhcpcd. # (the ISC DHCP client can be finetuned via /etc/dhclient.conf # and so-called hooks (see man 8 dhclient-script) test "$DHCLIENT_SET_HOSTNAME" = "yes" && \ DHCLIENT_ARGS="-H" test "$DHCLIENT_SET_DOMAINNAME" = "yes" && \ DHCLIENT_ARGS="$DHCLIENT_ARGS -D" test "$DHCLIENT_KEEP_SEARCHLIST" = "yes" && \ DHCLIENT_ARGS="$DHCLIENT_ARGS -S"
>>>>>>>>>>> test "$DHCLIENT_MODIFY_RESOLV_CONF" = "no" \ -o "$MODIFY_RESOLV_CONF_DYNAMICALLY" = "no" && \ DHCLIENT_ARGS="$DHCLIENT_ARGS -R" test -n "$DHCLIENT_TIMEOUT" && \ DHCLIENT_ARGS="$DHCLIENT_ARGS -t $DHCLIENT_TIMEOUT" test "$DHCLIENT_DEBUG" = "yes" && \ DHCLIENT_ARGS="$DHCLIENT_ARGS -d" else # if we are here, then $dhclient is the ISC dhclient

there is a switch you can add to the dhcpclient startup sequence that tells it not to set the dns
i forget exactly what it is but something like /sbin/dhcpcd -R
you can edit the /etc/init.d/dhclient script and add the -R flag to it or change the arguements on line 181 in the script.

i have both variables that could modify /etc/resolv.confg to 'no' yet my dhcpclient is modifying it any idea?

Change /etc/rc.config.d/dhcpcd.rc.config:DHCLIENT_MODIFY_RESOLV_CONF="no" I had the same problem. -- Pat Shanahan Registered Linux User #207535 Registered at: http://counter.li.org
