Hi, Few weeks ago I misstyped an e-mail address while composing a message and from that timepoint Kmail annoys me with this wrong variant. e.g. if I attempt to compose a new mail to this person and start to type the corresponding address, Kmail displays the corrupted one as "suggestion". I seeked for files containing this wrong address in both /home/me/ and /tmp/, but couldn't identify any. So in fact have no idea, how Kmail could remember... Please anyone does know the trick, how to get Kmail really forgetting about it?! Thank you, Pelibali

Don't know kmail, but have you looked in the addressbook? Theo -- Theo v. First of all, the address is stored in $HOME/.kde/share/config/kmailrc Secondly, you can go to Settings->Configure KMail->Composer and click on "Edit recent addresses", and there you can either delete it or change it to what it should be

I don't see that option in KMail 1.8.2, which came with SUSE 10.0.

OK, maybe it's new for KDE 3.5 (kmail 1.9) then (it's a good idea to update anyway, as it's very sweet) But editing kmailrc will always work. Just make sure kmail is shut down when you do it, as otherwise kmail will overwrite your edits when it closes down.

I rarely use KMail, so I'm not that worried about it.

Or even easier.... the next time you're sending an email and *any* address shows up that was a typo or not wanted and is contained in Kmail's 'recent address' list: right click on the TO window in the new mail click on 'Edit recent addresses' That's it!

First of all, the address is stored in $HOME/.kde/share/config/kmailrc
And for those whose kmailrc file is, like min, over 5500 lines long, look for a line beginning with "Recent Addresses=". It should be in the [General] section.
Secondly, you can go to Settings->Configure KMail->Composer and click on "Edit recent addresses", and there you can either delete it or change it to what it should be
There's no such thing, at least in KMail 1.8.2. However, the context menu (right click) of the message composer window's address fields themselves includes such a beast. It also allows you control the details of how completion occurs and the relative precedence between recent addresses and address-book addresses. Randall Schulz

Thanks for all of your replies; I started to read with Anders' response, which method worked flawlessly on my SUSE _9.1_ :) I learned from this not only how to solve similar problem(s) in the future, but also that the 'Find Files' function in KDE 3.3.1 really doesn't go into hidden folders! If I would know this earlier, could figure out in time, how to seek for files containing any string from command-line... Best, Pelibali

When you're composing the message, right click in the "To:" box, where the address appears. Select "Edit Recent Addresses".
