purging system of gnome settings
I have Mr. Ogley's new gnome 2.8 almost running well on my 9.1 sytem but annoyances remain--incomplete menus, occasional crashes, etc. I tried to get rid of all gnome settings by: removing everything in /tmp removing ~/gnome* removing ~/.gconf* but I fear I have missed something. Does someone know how to do a complete purge of any and all gnome settings? Thanks, Henry Harpending

Deleting ~/.gconf alone got me back to square one. All well thereafter, with the latest packages. David -- Registered Linux User No 207521 The Linux Counter: http://counter.li.org/ "The above is my personal opinion and does not necessarily reflect that of the little voices in my head."

Do you have gnome-control-center on any gnome menu? Do you anything like start-here? Thanks, Henry

"Start Here" is gone. Gnome control centre is there under Applications/Desktop Preferences, are as all the individual components. Thanks. I am __almost__ there but there is no "Desktop Preferences" entry under the Applications menu. I have tried to find which RPM is responsible for the menu but no luck. Henry
