[opensuse] Compiz - vista like Right Side Panel
Guys (and girls) I have seen screenshots of compiz with a vista like right side panel holding the clock, calendar, system stats, etc. that I would love to add. The problem is that (1) I don't know what it is called or (2) where to look to get it. I have looked at kasbar, ksim and universal sidebar under KDE, but those are not what I've seen. Anyone else have any other ideas? -- David C. Rankin, J.D., P.E. You might have seen screenshots of KDE 4 with Plasma, its framework for these kind of applets. I suggest you post URLs of the screenshots then someone will ID them, though. If it is KDE 4, it's being worked on, but try the KDE 4 live CDs that my colleague Stephan Binner produces - see news.opensuse.org Will -- Desktop Engineer KDE Team -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Under gnome you would simply add a panel and move it to the right side right click on an open piece of the "start bar", new panel, right click on the new panel, properties, orientation to right Then you have a fresh bar to put all the things you need in: right click on the new panel, add to panel Neil -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Does it really require the 100M or so of all the gnome stuff to work? There are a ton of gnome dependencies listed in Yast just to try and install it. -- David C. Rankin, J.D., P.E. The 1.2 Mb KDE 3 equivalent is SuperKaramba - packaged in kdeutils3-extra. To run it, enter "desktop widgets" or superkaramba in the start menu search, (it lurks in Utilities->Desktop otherwise, then click Get New Stuff to download the list of fresh widgets, install the ones you like and find them lurking on your desktop.
