Can anybody tell me how to show the DNS servers and gateway when using DHCP in Linux? Is there a .conf file somewhere or a command to display? ifconfig just doesn't offer a switch and netstat also doesn't show it. I know this is a pretty basic question, but I am just starting to go down that deep in Linux. Thanks, -Uli --------------------------------- Do You Yahoo!? The commands are the same whether you're using DHCP or not. The DNS servers are listed in /etc/resolv.conf, and the gateway can be found by typing /sbin/route -n and looking at the second field in the line that starts with 0.0.0.0. -tara

A lot of this info can be found in YAST 2 under Network Basics --> Hostname & DNS. This is of course using 7.3 Pro, so your milage may vary. I find this the easiest way for a newbie to dig into the issue. I can also highly recommend Webmin as a way of managing all of your Linux box settings. Cheers, Brian
