[opensuse] Booting HP 2133 Suse 10.3 LiveCD and Installing Software
I've burned a livecd for suse 10.3. I went into the HP 2133's bios and made sure it would see the external usb dvd drive. It starts to boot but always has a fatal error that says it cannot find the cdrom drive. I've had the mini notebook for a week now. It has Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop. In all this time, I have yet to be able to install a single new program. I'm about 3 seconds from installing some other distro that's easier to use. No matter what I do, it always says there is some dependency. I haven't found a way to automatically resolve dependencies. It always says it's resolving them but it can never find the packages. It would be SO much easier to just use something like yum on Fedora. What am I doing wrong? I've tried yast2 in the command line and I've tried the menu items for installing software. It sounds like you might be missing a repository or two. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how to check this on SLED. In openSuSE, I can go to YaST > Software > Software Management app > configure repositories. Sorry I can't be more precise, but I'm away from SuSE right now. If you need to add a repository then I'm not sure what to say. I assume SLED has its own repository, but I can't find it. You can try the ones listed next AT YOUR OWN RISK. openSuSE Repositories http://en.opensuse.org/Package_Repositories If you don't find what you need on this mailing list then you might post in these two forums.
