[opensuse] Patronising attitudes and off-topic bigotry
Goodbye list, It's been OK-ish, I suppose, but the general attitude towards inexperienced users is often patronising if not downright rude and dismissive, and the recent bigoted off-topic posts (in more than one thread) mean I can't stick around here. Been noticing this a lot recently. Even when the list is unbusy, new users are instantly suffered off this main lost to some obscure sub list, even when answers are fairly obvious. Rather than providing the answer they demand the newbie go somewhere else where they will be treated just as poorly. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

Correct. There is a clique of hobbyists here who last saw a network in 1975. Politely asking them to shut up doesn't work. At first, it angered us. Now, we just filter their messages. Yeah, OK, we're a bunch of school kids. When we came here, we knew nothing. Thanks to those who do not speak down to us, we are now able to tackle most of the problems ourselves. We have learned a lot of English and we have even been able to reply to some of the more day-at-a-time aspects of some of the threads. An enormous thank you to those who _have_ helped us get off the ground with opensuse. There are some very knowledgeable and humble humans here. To them we owe our progress. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
I've never had a problem on this list (more than 10 years) with anyone treating me badly. I've read quite a lot of conflicts, but my sense of the "general" attitude (if there is such a thing really) is that people here try to help others out. Just my 2 Cents, Gustav.
