Hi I would like when I create a new user with yast to send them an email to the new account. Is this possible?
Steps:
1. Create new USER:
edit /usr/sbin/useradd.local, and read it. Backup this file before changing it. /usr/sbin/useradd.local is the file that you have to modify to send a first email to the new user (silly example follows): NAME="`grep \"^$1:\" /etc/passwd | awk -F: '{print $5}'" echo "Welcome $NAME on this machine! Your account has just been created." | mail -s "Welcome $name" $1 (The echo statement is spread over 3 lines!)
2. New USER logs in for the first time and there first email was generated from a template on the system
The email should be generated by the useradd.local script in step #1.
3. the most likely will read it:>
Let's hope so. ;) Cheers, Leen
