Suse 7.1 kde 2.2.2 XF86-4.2.0 I am getting hangs when I try to log out from KDE and shutdown. Kdm seems to hang. Can kdm be reinstalled ? Should I try to use xdm ? Regular reboots are putting a strain on my file system. Any suggestions appreciated. Brian Marr

Are you talking about after you've selected "shutdown" from the menu? Are you sure it's hanging? Sometimes I've seen that the kdm screen simply stays on the screen after it's been killed. If you try ctrl-alt-f1, does that work? You should get the text console with all the shutdown messages if things are OK. regards Anders -- World cup countdown: 4 days left Prediction: England - Sweden 1-1
Suse 7.1 kde 2.2.2 XF86-4.2.0 I can log out to the kdm screen. When I shutdown from here my system hangs. Ctl >Alt >F1 does not work. When I shutdown from another console the process stops on shutting down kdm. Brian Marr On Thursday 30 May 2002 07:27, you wrote:
