customized replication floppy for 7.1 possible
Hello there,
I'd like to install SuSE 7.1 on a couple of machines and need a
effectively method. To my knowledge, Mandrake provides a replication
floppy creation option in the end of the normal installation. How is it
possible on SuSE 7.1? Idealy, the replication floppy or bootable CD
should keep all the packages configuration and disk partitioning so that
the user need to do the least of configuration.
Any resource about this?

SuSE does the same. The very last step of the setup program before any changes are about to be made to your disk you will have an option to save all your configuration options that you have chosen to a floppy. -Pete -- "Friends don't let friends use Windows"

There is an option to save all your package selections to a floppy during installation, however I don't think this is exactly what you want here. What you may be looking for is the program called 'ALICE', which is the replication type program that SuSE recommends (I don't know if they are the authors, but I wouldn't be surprised). I've never used it myself, but there are some instructions in the handbook and there should be manpages, etc. Hope that helps, Chris -- __ _ -o)/ / (_)__ __ ____ __ Chris Reeves /\\ /__/ / _ \/ // /\ \/ / ICQ# 22219005 _\_v __/_/_//_/\_,_/ /_/\_\
Dear Chris,
Where can I get more information about ALICE?
Any URL?
In addition, is it possible to make a bootable CD with customized
package selection and partitioning(even root password) so that it can
ship with the hardware product(say, server appliance product).
How to begin with a customized bootable CD?
