I upgraded to firefox 3 via the build service and generally it's ok. (I had to also upgrade thunderbird to get email links working again). However I notice that it will not navigate to links that konqueror will, for instance: www.rubbermaid.com will get a server not found. Is there some sort of bug in the blacklisted sites going on? wcn -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

Rubber Maid? Isn't that one of *those* sites?? j/k Seriously, what do you get when you try to load the URL? Also, what desktop are you - KDE or something else? -- kai www.filesite.org || www.4thedadz.com || www.perfectreign.com remember - a turn signal is a statement, not a request -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

It works here. Both www.rubbermaid.com and rubbermaid.com. -- Regards, Rajko http://en.opensuse.org/Portal needs helpful hands. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse+help@opensuse.org

This is an absolutely silly conversation. DNS resolving is just like that sometimes. When domain admins make changes to records, sometimes dns servers out in the wild don't always pick up the changes perfectly and immediately, and sometimes they don't always honor the caching time limits specified by the TTL parameter in the in the authoritative record, and sometimes your own end user client machine caches results too long. Result: sometimes a record is valid and points to a machine that is up and listening, and yet a particular desktop may not know it. And vice versa, sometimes a record may have been broken or deleted, and yet a given desktop may still know the correct mapping from before the record was damaged, heck the browser can silently fail and then show you a copy from browser cache. On top of all that, there can be transient routing issues where dns is fine and the machines on both ends are fine and physical connectivity & routing on both ends is generally fine to other points on the net, and yet some people can physically connect and some people can't, but 20 minutes or a day later all is fine. As for rubbermaid.com, from my office, from this particular desk at this moment, the name www.rubbermaid.com it happens to still not be resolveable, though physical connectivity by ip is fine and other names for the same ip do resolve. But at the moment, dnsstuff.com reports: ------------------- Searching for www.rubbermaid.com A record at d.root-servers.net [128.8.10.90]: Got referral to D.GTLD-SERVERS.NET. (zone: com.)
