[opensuse] trying to get scanner to work
Went to Epson site and looked up this scanner and Linux. It says, and I quote: "On Linux, you need to set up libusb device protections. " I don't know what this means, or how to do it. Please advise! I went to the <http://support.epson.net/linux/en/imagescanv3.php> site and it has two choices, opensuse 15.0 and 15.1. I don't know what I have, and I don't know how to find out. I'm running Tumbleweed, downloaded originally around May of this year and updated several times since, including today. How can I determine whether this is 15.0 or 15.1 (or something else)? I asked google how to and it said to do this: -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

I asked google how to and it said to do this:
and in fact, you do not have either. tumbleweed is definied by an issue or build date, ie: 20190824. but, either 15.0 or 15.1 may work for you. they are gziped rpm's, so download 15.1, gunzip and zypper -v in -D /<location>/<filename>.rpm "-D" defines as "dry run", ie: test if it succeeds, do: zypper -v in /<location>/<filename>.rpm if not, then try 15.0. if that also fails, you will need more help -- (paka)Patrick Shanahan Plainfield, Indiana, USA @ptilopteri http://en.opensuse.org openSUSE Community Member facebook/ptilopteri Photos: http://wahoo.no-ip.org/piwigo paka @ IRCnet freenode -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

What did it say? To know what OS you have, do: cat /etc/os-release Then also do: zypper lr --details > somefile.txt and then attach (not paste) that file to your reply here. -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. (from 15.0 x86_64 at Telcontar)

Yes, this is only for Leap.

Tumbleweed is not Leap :) But just get the 15.1 packages. They will install without error, all dependencies are fulfilled. Cannot test it though without matching scanner... -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org

You have that driver already installed but you still cannot print? The driver specifically states that it works with the WP4530. Just out of curiosity, did you install the 32-bit or the 64-bit version of the driver? Oh, and how did you install the *.RPM? -- a yer eggo i kudnt spel progrmer butt naw i ar won! -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse+owner@opensuse.org
