Does anyone know of a program that will convert DOCs to PDFs if a DOC is dropped into a directory on the filesystem? My googling is coming up empty. Thanks, Ryan

No, but it should be easy to implement with some scripting: (1) Create two directories- one for input and one for output. (2) Write a small script to sort the files in the reverse chronological order and get the newest filename and convert that file to pdf with a program like wvPDF (part of wvware), output it to the output directory. (3) Use something like dnotify: http://oskarsapps.mine.nu/dnotify.html to monitor the input directory and run the script when a new file is dropped into it. IIRC, you can run OpenOffice with a script to do various things. Perhaps this is one of them.

Thanks, Ryan If you have OOo 1.1x or 2.x try; openoffice.org-Projects-Scripts-DocConverter.

Could you not set-up a script to moitor the directory either by checking the size of the directory or by searching for doc files. If there is a way to monitor the directory then have a script move doc files to a temporary directory. Then have the script check the temporary directory each minute and run a doc2PDF or similar command, but placing the output of the command in the directory the original doc file was inserted into. The logic makes sense to me but don't ask how as I'll leave that to the more experienced on the list. HiH
