How do I compile and install a srpm? I'm told on the web to use the --rebuild option like this: # rpm --rebuild apt-0.5.5cnc6-1.src.rpm --rebuild: unknown option But the option is unknown. Couldn't find it on the man page. This didn't work either: # rpm -ivh apt-0.5.5cnc6-1.src.rpm 1:apt ########################################### [100%] Find did not find the rpm this is supposed to produce. I'm trying to install apt from srpm. Thanks, Jerome

you can either do 'rpmbuild --rebuild apt-*.src.rpm' or install it as you have done then go to /usr/src/packages and do 'rpmbuild -ba SPECS/apt.spec'. after either one, go to /usr/src/packages/RPMS/i586 and install the rpm you find there. if it's not in i586, try one of the other arch directories under /usr/src/packages/RPMS. -- trey

practice.. :) i tend to install most things from source rpms so i can check the compile options and see if there's any changes i want to make. -- trey
