Konqueror file manager-not showing devices
I don't know when it changed ( maybe after last YOU kernel update?) but now when I click on devices in Konqueror it is empty. It used to show my mounted file systes- /dev/hdb10 for /, /dev/hdb6 for /home, and also my Dazzle card reader. I can't remember what the path was to that card reader, and now I can't find it. also now when I log in, I get a window showing SUSEPlugger crashed and caused a SIGSEV 11. backtrace shows: Using host libthread_db library "/lib/tls/libthread_db.so.1". [Thread debugging using libthread_db enabled] [New Thread 1095711232 (LWP 6754)] [KCrash handler] #7 0x4143cec9 in free () from /lib/tls/libc.so.6 #8 0x417083b1 in free_mem () from /lib/libhd.so.9 #9 0x4170ed20 in hd_free_hd_data () from /lib/libhd.so.9 #10 0x41813963 in SuSEhwItemHandler::init () from /opt/kde3/lib/libsusehwhelper.so.0 #11 0x4181478b in SuSEhwItemHandler::SuSEhwItemHandler () from /opt/kde3/lib/libsusehwhelper.so.0 #12 0x416d7c2b in SusePlugger::SusePlugger () from /opt/kde3/lib/libkdeinit_suseplugger.so #13 0x416d6693 in kdemain () from /opt/kde3/lib/libkdeinit_suseplugger.so #14 0x40018764 in kdeinitmain () from /opt/kde3/lib/kde3/suseplugger.so #15 0x0804e892 in launch () #16 0x0804ef9c in handle_launcher_request () #17 0x0804f559 in handle_requests () #18 0x0804fd3a in main () I don't know if these 2 problems are related or not, I'm not sure what the SuSEPlugger does. what can I do to get my devices back. mount shows( and a few others): /dev/hdb6 on /home type reiserfs (rw,acl,user_xattr) usbfs on /proc/bus/usb type usbfs (rw) -- Paul Cartwright Registered Linux user # 367800 X-Request-PGP: http://home.comcast.net/~p.cartwright/wsb/key.asc

I don't know exactly how to fix this, but go to kcontrol (the kde control center) then to 'KDE components'->'Service Manager' to see if the mount watcher (devices:/) is running. On mine, it says that it isn't, but I still can't figure out how to activate it.

this is a security guide that WARNS you about turning things off, which I did. The runlevel editor setting I changed was autofs, I turned it off so the system didn't check when I inserted a smartcard. it works now and I don't get the suseplugger error anymore. -- Paul Cartwright Registered Linux user # 367800 X-Request-PGP: http://home.comcast.net/~p.cartwright/wsb/key.asc
