No...I get an error when trying to load the helix-engine about not

able to initialize it and to check the paths. :-(
That's because your paths are wrong. You need to go off the beaten path to the right one.
Assuming you've got Real Player installed. (If you don't, then do.)
/usr/lib/RealPlayer10/common /usr/lib/RealPlayer10/plugins /usr/lib/RealPlayer10/codecs
Thanks. I did so and amarok would then "play" the mp3 file, but there was no sound. At this point, I shut amarok down and attempted to restart, but now amarok won't start at all. Attempting to start from konsole gives no output or error messages. :-(
Not sure why this is happening or, better yet, why amarok stopped playing mp3 files to begin with (as well as xmms)
