Can somebody tell me what to do when you add memory (from 16 Mb to 64 Mb) in your Linux box? (Suse 6.0) Modify something in the configuration? Thank you.
Just add the memory. The linux kernel will determine how much is there. And it will love you all the more for it. :) Some people think you should increase your swap size if you increase your memory. That is more or less up to you. I have 64M swap and 160M RAM because I've never increased my cache size. So far as I can tell, ever since I had 64M of RAM in the machine, the swap has never been used. Now that I have 160M, I am very sure it never gets used. The amount of swap needed depends on whhat kind of applications you are using. If you are using lots of monstrous things like staroffice etc you will need more swap. Henning -- H.
