problem with Asus motherboards
Dear All, We had some discussion on this list a few weeks ago about overheating on Asus motherboards, particularly the ASUS A7V133 series with an Athlon cpu. The same discussion arose on another list that I subscribe to, and somebody posted a solution. Below I will include what this person said, but please be aware that I have not tested this myself as my motherboard is not of this series. (I do have an Asus motherboard with an older K6 chip, and it overheats occasionally despite the fact that I've added an auxiliary cooling fan - I'm not sure if the fault is with Asus or AMD). So without further ado, here is what this gentleman had to say: Regarding your HLT instructions, are you using the original BIOS 1008 from Award? If so, the BIOS lacks lot of features. Goto www.braziliantech.com and download the 1008 FXD (fixed) BIOS and flash it. "Mind you, you do this at your own risk." Read the docs & instructions carefully. The BIOS supports hardware cooling instructions for your AMD chips and moreover it is stable. I have an ASUS A7V KT133 board and have been using it with the 1008 FXD BIOS for over a month now. No Problems on Windows or Linux. Also, I have been running my 600 Duron @ 900 MHz and my CPU temperature goes upto maximum 52 degrees Centigrade. regards, Robert Storey __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? I do have one of these mb's. It's the A7V w/ the KT133 chipset. I don't read the native language of the site and babelfish is just not happy with it. Could someone download the bios file for me and just email it to me?
