[opensuse] Cannot install Leap-15.1 on HP laptop
Today I tried to install Leap-15.1 on my new HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-cx0112ng, but in vain. (Despite its name, I have no intention to use the laptop for games.) After inserting a bootable USB stick made from openSUSE-Leap-15.1-NET-x86_64.iso, I switched on the laptop and selected "Installation". This was the system's response: - Loading kernel - Loading initial ramdisk ... ... ... - Loading base drivers...ok - Starting hardware detection... But then an "ok" never appeared. Three overlapping green bars slowly grew from the left to the right for showing the hardware detection's progress. But after their arrival at the right-hand end, nothing happened any more. I waited one more hour, but in vain. I repeated this attempt of installation twice, loosing a lot of time, but without obtaining a different result. Unfortunately the laptop has no CD/DVD drive. So, there is no alternative to the installation with a bootable USB stick. Any help is welcome! I googled "HP Pavilion Gaming Laptop 15-cx0112ng and linux" but the results are in German, thus I can not read them. I glimse "nvidia" in the results. Wait for ideas, but you could try with Tumbleweed. - -- Cheers / Saludos, Carlos E. R. I googled it, too, but not finding any result appropriate to Linux installation, neither in German (my native tongue) nor in any other language. Please let me know the URL of the site you are referring to. I guess your laptop has a Nvidia graphics card? Best try is to boot with GRUB parameter "nomodeset" then: https://en.opensuse.org/SDB:Nomodeset:_Work_Around_Graphic_Upgrade_%26_Insta...
