RE: [SLE] Suse Helpcentre is broken in KDE 2.2
Anyone from SuSE care to comment on this problem? The helpcentre is a v. high-profile app and is important for new users and (useful for all of us). I certainly expect this to be fixed by the point KDE 2.2 is bundled with the latest SuSE distro. Tim Harrell

Since the upgrade to the latest version of 2.2 from Suse's KDE page, I can no longer use the SuSE helpcentre application. I'm sure someone else who has upgraded to KDE 2.2 has mentioned this problem also, but I don't recall seeing any replies.

I also have noticed the Help Center broken Tim. I also remember that was a consistent error when updating the KDE files. The "index.html" was always not found are unable to install. Wasn't sure what it associated with until trying to use the HC. As I searched, I also found there was no index.html at the location needed. I am guessing something didn't get installed or was removed by one of the installs which broke Help Center. Can anyone help with this mystery?

More helpcenter problems... On a fresh install (default + office + devel + kde + gnome) I found that when firing up the help center (or typinh susehelp) it starts but the text is substituted with greek symbols. But it is fine in Netscape! I looked at the HTML source and found that if I took away "charset=utf-8" from the content type http-equiv meta tag then the page is displayed correctly. However, susehelpcenter creates this content dynamically and so there is no easy fix as far as I can see. I though starting the X font server might fix it - but it didn't! What's the problem here? -- Simon Oliver
Try in Kong "http://localhost/doc". That works so far. Curtis On Tuesday 04 September 2001 04:34 am, Harrell, Tim wrote:

I upped my 7.2 to KDE 2.2 and it works just fine. You do have to run SuSEconfig after upping to KDE2.2 though. Did you do that ? What SuSE version are you running ?
