Re: [SLE] 3Com Ethernet card (3c905B) don't run with 2.2.16-SuSE.
I use the kernel released by S.u.S.E, ftp.suse.com/pub/suse/i386/update/6.4/kernel-2.2.16/k_deflt.rpm, the SuSE kernel use the driver released by 3Com instead of the default kernel driver, I think the problem is the version 1.0.0i of this driver, and I want know if someone experienced the same problem. Thanks. On Sat, 1 Jul 2000, Major Baxter wrote:
Weird... I used 3Com 905B - TX and never had problems... You have a 3c9xx on the kernel run a dmesg and try to get some extra information, do you have a modular kernel (if you compiled one) or a monolithic one ?? depmod -a ?? It is hard to answer with lesser information than this... Hope to ear something more...

PS: sorry everyone, someone messed up with my email :\
Hi,
I updated the kernel of my SuSE 6.4, but the module 3c90x don't recognize my network card, with 2.2.14-SuSE all run OK, the module in the 2.2.14 kernel is 1.0.0, and in 2.2.16 is 1.0.0i, with 2.2.16 when the system boot and try to configure eth0 fail whit a SIOCSIFFLAGS: No such device.
My english is very bad, sorry.
Thanks.

As I posted a couple of days ago, yes. Robert Sweet sent me mail suggesting I try the other driver. I wasn't aware there was another but, sure enough, there it was. I set it to use the other driver and voila. 3c905 is working again with 2.2.16. -- Brad Shelton On Line Exchange http://online-isp.com -- To unsubscribe send e-mail to suse-linux-e-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands send e-mail to suse-linux-e-help@suse.com Also check the FAQ at http://www.suse.com/support/faq
